Photo Shoot at the Botanical Gardens

This past Saturday we traveled to Toledo to visit the Hulse's. Madelyn now can say "Jax" for"Jackson." It's pretty cute! Colbi's sister, a photographer in Toldedo, was so sweet to spend her Saturday afternoon at the Botanical Gardens for a "photo shoot" of Madelyn. The weather was perfect and Madelyn enjoyed running around. By the end of the day, she took a liking to Carli (Colbi's sister)...I think Madelyn thought Carli was playing/chasing her when she was taking her pics! We did think the little one was going to get kicked out of the garden when she tried to pick apart the tulips....that's when we knew she was about done with the photo shoot! Afterwards the older children (the parents) enjoyed some Mexican food and beverages while Gubbi (aka Colbi's mom..that's what Jackson calls her!) was so nice to babysit the kiddos. Below is a pic of the kids playing outside together! It is pretty dificult to get them both to look at the camera at the same time!
The next day, the guys played golf while the moms, kids, and "Gubbi" went to the Toledo Zoo. We were there early enough to beat the crowds and the heat. Madelyn was so perfect there, I was nervous since she has been a little difficult to keep in her stroller! But she was in a great mood and enjoyed the elephants and monkey! She was signing "monkey" as we watched them play. Afterwards both kids took a long nice nap!

Thank you Colb and your family for a great weekend! See you guys soon!

ENT Follow-up

I am happy to say that the "tubes" are working! Madelyn had her first follow-up appointment with Dr. Wiet (the ENT) since her surgery. Prior to the appointment, she had her first hearing test (and passed with flying colors I am proud to say!).  Dad went into the hearing booth with her while I sat outside and chatted to the audiologist (she also had worked at Metro ENT in Pittsburgh!).   Small world...  Afterwards, we did have quite a long wait before seeing the doctor and Miss Madelyn was not a happy camper! The doctor looked in her ears, said they were good, and we were on our way! Pretty easy. She seems like she is getting a bit better (less hysterical) at MD appointments. I guess I should wait and see how Weds. goes at the pulmonologist before I say that! All in all, she has been feeling good and happy since she had the tubes put in! Thank goodness!   Sorry about the template change...I couldn't stand looking at the last one!

Easter Day

The past couple weeks have been pretty busy for us.  Adam and I vacationed in Aruba enjoying some sun and a break from work.  Even though most of our conversations were about Madelyn or watching other children playing at the beach, we thought it was too short! Even though Madelyn was not impressed with the Easter Bunny at the mall, he visited this past weekend bringing her lots of baskets, "puffs & wheels," toys, clothes, and even a picnic table!  And I did say Easter Bunny, not Santa Claus!  She enjoyed looking for eggs Easter morning and placing them into her basket (over and over again).  Her speech is coming right along! It is amazing how quickly she picks up on things!  She now can say "Stace" or more like "Tace" for her Aunt Stacey. It is pretty cute! The first thing she said Easter morning was "stace" over and over again. I think Madelyn thinks Stace is her playmate. (You were a good sport all weekend Stace! Love you!)
Smiling in her Easter Dress...I do not think her dad realized how hard it was going to be to find Easter dress shoes a week beforehand!
Bright eyed!
Easter morning, checking out her basket!
